Service Description

This five week silver jewellery course is suitable for both complete beginners, and those with experience of jewellery making. Join me in my purpose built jewellery workshop to begin your journey into the wonderful world of silver jewellery making! Working with silver sheet, wire and base metals, you will be taught a wide variety of techniques suitable to your level of experience. Starting with a solid foundation in traditional jewellery making techniques (piercing, filing, forming and soldering), we'll focus on developing and consolidating these skills while introducing more advanced techniques such as stone setting. At the end of the course you will take away your original, handmade pieces of jewellery to be treasured forever. Class sizes are kept small so that teaching can be adapted to suit the needs and pace of each student, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Each block of classes is limited to three students, ensuring plenty of access to tools and tutor guidance. Use of tools, workshop and tuition is included in the course price, along with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits! The materials used in your jewellery will incur an extra cost, with silver and copper available at a minimal rate. You will need to bring: a hair tie for long hair, a notebook and pencil, a small box or toolbox to put your work in and some ideas.

What could be more romantic than personally crafting the rings that will symbolise your everlasting love and commitment to each other?

The wedding ring workshop includes a day’s exclusive access to my fully equipped jewellery studio in the heart of the Wye Valley, with expert guidance as you design and create your rings from scratch - no experience necessary! I’m a skilled jeweller with many years’ experience, and it is my pleasure and privilege to be a part of such a joyous process as you prepare for the most special day of your lives.

Your journey begins with a complimentary consultation session at the studio, where we will discuss potential designs, choose your metal, and determine ring sizes. You can work in sterling silver, gold, white gold or red gold (all styles of gold available in either 9ct or 18ct). We recommend that your wedding bands are created in the same metal as your engagement ring, but the choice is yours.

Following the consultation, we will book a date for the workshop, which will begin with an introduction to the tools you will be using. I will guide you through the creation process at your own pace.

Your beautiful bespoke rings will be sent for hallmarking, and I will contact you to arrange collection when they return from the Assay Office.

Pricing

Wedding ring workshop prices start from £400. This includes:

  • A comprehensive initial consultation

  • Exclusive use of my jewellery studio for the day

  • Expert tuition and guidance throughout the process

  • Refreshments and a light lunch

  • A glass of sparkling wine to celebrate at the end of the day

  • Beautiful packaging for your rings

The metal for your rings is an additional cost, which will depend on your choice of metal, the size and design of your rings, and the price of hallmarking. Following your initial consultation, I will prepare a no obligation quote for you based on the gold price at the time.

We recommend that you allow at least six weeks between our workshop and your wedding. This ensures that there is ample time for polishing, hallmarking, and collection.

If required, the process can be shortened to three weeks; however this will carry an extra charge, as it requires me to travel to Birmingham to have the rings checked and hallmarked at the Assay Office in person.
